Duplicate student ID resolution

Duplicate IDs are a problem for administrators – if you see them, report them.

What are duplicate IDs and how are they created?

Students are given a unique student ID that they retain throughout their academic life at RMIT (irrespective of changes to program or career).

When a student applies for a new program they may be allocated a second student number in error, giving them multiple active IDs on RMIT’s student database. To avoid future issues with the student records, duplicate/multiple IDs are managed to ensure that a student’s record has only one active student ID.

What to do if a student has a duplicate ID?

Email all enquiries and requests about duplicate IDs to citizenship.identity@rmit.edu.au.
