If you are an international student, the Australia Awards Scholarship (AAS) may financially help to support your study or research at RMIT.

Australia Awards are prestigious international scholarships and fellowships funded by the Australian Government offering the next generation of global leaders an opportunity to undertake study, research and professional development.

The study and research opportunities provided by Australia Awards Scholarships develop skills and knowledge of individuals to drive change and contribute to the development outcomes of their own country.

How to apply

  1. Find a program at RMIT University
  2. See the  participating country page for how to apply and eligibility
    1. You will have to choose a program within a priority area in order to beeligible for the scholarship
  3. Check the deadlines. See  open and close dates for your country
    1. Online applications close 30 April, 2016. To avoid peak period delays, pleaseallow sufficient time to process your application before the deadline. Pleaseallow more time for mail applications.
  4. Apply for the scholarship via Australia Awards in your country
      If you intend to apply, you must read the  Scholarships Policy Handbook. Thehandbook provides information including general eligibility requirements,selection processes, entitlements and awardee responsibilities. Note that thedepartment may revise and update the handbook at any time without notice.
  5. Check the application method: Some countries encourage and allow you to applyonline, other countries require hard-copy applications only. To check if yourcountry accepts online applications see your  participating country profile formore information.

To help you transition to life and study in Melbourne, Australia we have custom designed a 5-week Introductory Academic Program (IAP) covering

  1. Getting to know RMIT and Melbourne
  2. Cross-cultural adaptation
  3. Academic skills

You are required to attend this program before formal studies to assist you adapt to your new surroundings.

The RMIT University Student Contact Officer (SCO) can provide the following support for AAS recipients:

  • Welcome pack
  • Arrival services/ Airport Pickup
  • Temporary accommodation
  • Bank account set-up
  • Academic support
  • Family support
  • Travel arrangements
  • Return home briefing
  • Completion ceremony
