National Youth Awards

The Awards are an Australian Government initiative which is opened to all young Australians aged 12 to 25 years. It is also a national event that is celebrated during National Youth Week.

The Awards acknowledge, recognise and celebrate the achievements of Australia’s young people through six Award categories, and commend the positive news reporting of young people through a seventh Award category.

You can apply for an Award yourself or be nominated by someone else. The unique feature of the Awards is that the finalist and winners of each Award category are chosen by a selection panel made up of all young people. This means if you’re a finalist, you’ll be judged by a panel of your peers. Hence, the Awards are genuinely for young people, by young people.

The 2015 round of the Awards opened on 10 October 2014 and will close at 12 pm (AEDST) on 27 November 2014. Finalist in each category will be announced in March 2015 and winners will be announced at the Award presentation ceremony in Brisbane, on 16 April 2015.
