RG Kayler-Thomson Memorial Scholarship

For full-time Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) (Honours) students who are interested in a career in air conditioning/ refrigeration/ heating and who will undertake the Applied Heat and Mass Transfer course and a project in the thermofluids field.

The scholarship is valued at $6500 per year; for up to two years.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • be an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident
  • be enrolled full-time in the standard semester 1 and 2 in either:
    • your third year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) (Honours) (BH070), or
    • your fourth year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) (Honours)/Bachelor of Business (Management) (BH089), the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) (Honours)/Bachelor of Science (Biotechnology) (BH090) or the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering)(Honours)/Bachelor of Industrial Design (Honours) (BH093)
  • have completed Applied Thermodynamics (MIET2421) and Fluid Mechanics of Mechanical Systems (MIET2422) with a grade of distinction or higher in both courses
  • have a Grade Point Average (GPA) to date of 2.5 or greater
  • have two years of full-time study left to complete
  • undertake the Applied Heat and Mass Transfer course and a project in the thermofluids field in your final year (your second year of payments is dependent upon these enrolments and satisfactory academic performance).

  • A copy of your academic transcript (if applicable) if you studied at an institution other than RMIT in 2018

The RG Kayler-Thomson Memorial Scholarship was established by the late Marion Kayler-Thomson and is administered by the Australian Institute of Refrigeration Air Conditioning and Heating (AIRAH) in honour of her husband and son who worked in refrigeration engineering.
