While many agree that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery; spoof emails are anything but!
If you’ve ever received an email which purports to be from an organisation/individual but wasn’t, then you have been on the receiving end of a spoof email.
Unfortunately, due to the way email was designed in the early days of the internet, this illegal practice cannot be eliminated. However your Google Postini spam filter will do an excellent job of:
- recognising the majority of suspicious and spoof emails
- quarantining them, and
- deleting them after 14 days.
If would like to learn more about your spam filter in Postini, please visit: http://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/enterprisetraining/postini/user/Email_Security_Service_Tour/engage.html. Alternatively, if you have concerns about the legitimacy of a specific email, please telephone the IT Service Desk.
