Young Writer’s Award 2014

Finalists will have their work published online in addition to the cash prizes.

Calling all future C.S. Lewis, Shakespeare and Stan Lee, you could be the next big writer.

The competition

The Young Writer’s Award is administered by Melbourne Library Service to encourage young, emerging writers and to mark Melbourne’s status as a UNESCO City of Literature.

The three competition categories are:

• short story

• poetry

• graphic or comic short story.

All entries must be in English. Maximum age to enter is 25.

Prizes

First prizes for each category:

• $100 for 14 to 17 years old

• $150 for 18 to 21 years old

• $200 for 22 to 25 years old.

Overall prizes:

• $500 for 14 to 17 years old

• $750 for 18 to 21 years old

• $1000 for 22 to 25 years old.

Dates

Submissions close on 31 August 2014.
