Key activities

Teaching areas: design and design management, advertising/creative theory and practice, copywriting, visual language, advertising/client-based projects, and professional practice.

Industry experience

Fulltime/freelance designer/art director/copywriter in multinational advertising agencies in the Australia, UK, Asia, USA, New Zealand. Accounts: Road Safety Council, British Design Council, Playboy, Mecca, Ford, Swan Brewery, KFC, Kodak, Pelaco, Peugeot, Citibank and Johnny Walker.

One of the founding partners of one of Australia’s first and most successful freelance creative recruitment agencies, ‘The Talent Store’. Jill and a staff of six represented and managed over three hundred of Australia’s top creative freelancers in advertising, design and production. Over 1000 companies and organisations, including government departments, advertising and agencies, marketing companies and corporations used the service.

Other interests

Travel writing and photography: fifty travel-related stories in twenty countries for in-flight and corporate magazines, government and advertising agencies in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Research interests

Visual language, creative expertise and performance, creative workplace processes and practices, work-based learning.

Published work appears in book chapters, professional publications and academic journals.
