Key activities

Evelyn manages the media, education and public program events at RMIT Gallery – the University’s main gallery. A published author and active blogger writing on the media, arts and social commentary for a range of publications, Evelyn is adept in the use of digital communication strategies in strategic communication planning and brings the disciplines of traditional media to her digital work in audio, visual and text. She has high level skills in the relationships between new media communications, strategic and tactical advice on media opportunities and the management of key internal and external stakeholders to promote RMIT Gallery exhibitions, artists and activities. Her journalism background includes a decade at the Herald Sun, where she worked as both arts and education editor and managed the paper’s outreach program to schools. Evelyn has extensive experience lecturing in entrepreneurship, media relations and creative writing.

Uniquely placed to integrate the media, education and public program aspects of her position at RMIT Gallery, Evelyn is a qualified visual arts teacher and has lectured in communications, journalism, entrepreneurship, and creative writing as well as the role of integrated communication in curating contemporary art. She initiates, develops and administers special programs and insightful tours to inform and educate visiting tertiary and school groups and other members of the public about gallery’s exhibitions. As an entrepreneurial and collaborative member of the RMIT Gallery team, Evelyn seeks out and builds strong networks with artists and academics to foster creativity and cross pollinate ideas as part of a diverse and engaging public program of events for students, staff and the wider arts community.
