RMIT Community ran among thousands in the 2013 Melbourne Marathon
There's no end to the number of ways you can keep fit and active at RMIT
Among the 34,000 Melbourne Marathon participants, 120 RMIT Community members took part in the massive event. In the morning of 13 October, the team members saw pouring rain, wind gusts and sunshine in typical Melbourne style. The weather did not deter them from achieving their goals.
Out of the 120 RMIT Community members, 27 completed the arduous full marathon, 28 the half marathon and 39 the 10km. The remainder took part in either the 5.7km run or 3km walk.
RMIT student Jacob Gifty came an impressive fourth overall in the 5.7km run in a blistering speed of 19 minutes 29 seconds.
For the second year in a row, RMIT took out the University Team Division for the 10km event.
Many of our team members made use of the UniHUB marquee located outside the MCG. The UniHUB is a joint initiative between six universities – RMIT, Melbourne, Monash, Swinburne, La Trobe and Victoria University. The UniHUB provided a comfortable meeting place, cloak room service, massages, refreshments and entertainment for all team members from the universities and their friends.
