Work Integrated Learning
What is it?
Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is a term used to describe what you do when use your academic learning in a ‘real life’ situation (almost always) with a real industry or community partner. A WIL activity can be an internship (placement) or a project provided by a partner organisation. You may do your placement or project on or off campus (in the workplace). These placements and projects are tied to one or more courses within your program and are formally assessed for credit.
So whether you’re studying engineering, health science, design, business (or any other discipline!) and you undertake WIL, it gives you the chance to put what you’ve learnt in the classroom, into practice and ‘test drive’ the industry.
Regardless of your discipline, there are certain things you must know about WIL.
