2018 Research Awards Nomination Process

Each year, the RMIT Research Awards recognise and celebrate the research achievements of staff, including early career researchers (ECR), and Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates who have made significant contributions to research excellence and impact and research training.

Nominations are now OPEN for the 2018 awards and prizes.

Timelines

The RMIT Research Awards process opened on Friday 18th May 2018. It is anticipated that the outcomes of awards will be available in late September-early October 2018.

Submission of nomination details are due on Friday 13 July 2018.

For those who have provided nomination details, submission of completed nomination documents are due on Friday 27th July 2018.

Eligibility

The Research Awards Panel has the discretion to consider any nominations for more than one category of award, including categories under both the Vice-Chancellor’s Research Awards and Prizes and the RMIT Research Awards and Prizes. Please refer to individual award and prize categories for eligibility requirements specific to the award category, including eligibility for previous recipients of awards and prizes.

Application

Nomination

All awards and prizes are by nomination only (with nominee’s consent). Nominations from schools, colleges and RMIT Vietnam must receive endorsement from the respective Dean/Head of School or equivalent, noting that the Dean/Head of School or equivalent can also be the nominator. Multiple nominations from Schools are encouraged. In cases of multiple nominations for the same category from within the same School, the Dean/Head of School or equivalent may be asked to rank those nominations.

Nomination requirements vary by category, please refer to the nomination and documentation section of each individual award or prize for details.

Please note that each award or prize requires the completion of 2 statements of support, addressing the selection criteria. A summary of statements required for specific awards and prizes is available here.

The final nomination form and supporting materials must be combined into a single PDF document, and uploaded to the online nomination form. It is preferred that documents be combined by using Adobe Acrobat (not by scanning them).

Submission

By Friday 13 July 2018 provide the following details via email to researchawards@rmit.edu.au

  • Nominee name
  • Award Category (and sub-category if appropriate); and
  • Nominator details

Full Documentation Required by Friday 27th July 2018

For those who have submitted nomination details by 13th July 2018, the following full documentation will be required to be submitted via the online submission system by Friday 27th July 2018.

  • Nomination Form (with signatures, can be signature or uploaded email endorsing nomination). NOTE the Nomination Form must include a nominee statement (max 4 x A4 single pages, refer to Section G of this form)
  • 2 Statements of Support (max 1 x A4 page each, single-sided)
  • Abbreviated Curriculum Vitae (max 3 x A4 pages, single-sided)
