Asia@RMIT - Pakistan
The Islamic Republic of Pakistan is at the crossroads of South Asia, the Middle East, and Central Asia. Pakistan was established in 1947 with the partition of British India, into the Muslim state of Pakistan (with West and East sections) and the largely Hindu state of India. The 1971 Bangladesh independence war resulted in East Pakistan becoming the separate nation of Bangladesh. Pakistan is the world’s sixth most populous country and has the second largest Muslim population in the world after Indonesia.
Pakistan is an area of developing research for RMIT staff. The small number of projects includes one on gender issues to one looking at IT-enabled Small to Medium Enterprises in Pakistan.
