Course Description

The course explores the changing nature of work and the employment relationship in a global economy in which intelligent enterprises need to focus on how employees are managed to assist knowledge growth and development


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

The course aims to develop your capabilities as specialist practitioners and managers responsible for managing employees and assisting organisations to develop appropriate employee relations strategies.

As a successful participant in this course, you should be able to
• Diagnose salient issues for the changing work environment in a complex and paradoxical global business environment
• Frame judgements and make decisions about employment relations practices based on notions of social justice, equity and sustainability
• Identify and design employment relations strategies to encourage collaboration and team work (national and international)
• Plan employment relations strategies appropriate for various cultural situations
• Recognise challenges for employment relations in a technologically assisted work environment

Overview of Learning Activities

The course has been designed as a student-centered education experience in which the lecturer and students share their conceptual knowledge and reflect upon the outcomes of various experiential exercises in which students are engaged. These exercises have been constructed to parallel real-world activities.

The DLS will be used to communicate with you, to enable you to communicate with fellow students and as a tool for learning through Discussion Boards
