Course Description

This course gives you experience in the development lifecycle of an Internet application for a client. This will involve scoping, specifying, designing, developing, testing, documenting, and delivering a real-world Internet application.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

Capability Development
This course contributes to the development of the following capabilities:
- Critical analysis: Analyse and model requirements and constraints for the purpose of designing and implementing real-world Internet applications.
- Problem solving: Design and implement a real-world Internet application that accommodates specified requirements and constraints, based on modeling or requirements specification.
- Communication: Motivate and explain Internet application development concepts, relevant alternatives and decision recommendations to IT specialists, via technical reports of professional standard, and technical presentations.


Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course you should be able to:
- carry out the development lifecycle of an Internet application
- develop a real-world Internet application
- write reports on the results of such projects
- prepare and deliver an oral presentation on an industry project development


Overview of Learning Activities

You will work either individually or in a team on a project approved by the course coordinator. This project must meet requirements as agreed with an industry client and approved by the course coordinator. You will participate in the development lifecycle of an Internet application, and report on your work via both written and oral presentations.

You will make extensive use of computer laboratories and relevant software provided by the School. You will be able to access course information and learning materials through the Learning Hub (also known as online@RMIT) and may be provided with copies of additional materials in class or via email. Lists of relevant reference texts, resources in the library and freely accessible Internet sites will be provided.
