Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities
Completed undergraduate degree in Mathematics/Statistics and Operations Research with a major in at least one of the areas of Statistics, Operations Research, Numerical Analysis, Pure and Applied mathematics or its equivalent. A creditable academic record.
Course Description
In this course several areas of mathematics fundamental to modern pure and applied mathematics are studied in depth.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
Advanced analytic skills, preparation for research and team work development.
You will develop an understanding of proof techniques within a given area and where possible application of these methodologies will be made to other areas of mathematics.
Enhanced abiltiy to solve complex problems, highly developed analytic capacity.

You will attend lectures and/or supervised reading during which you will be exposed to the theory and concepts as outlined in the course description above. Where appropriate, you will be given instructions on software packages in the computer laboratory.
