Completed undergraduate degree in Mathematics/Statistics and Operations Research with a major in at least one of the areas of Statistics, Operations Research, or its equivalent. A creditable academic record.
Course Description
The subject researched may be chosen from any area of statistics or operations research which is consistent with your background.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
You will develop:
an ability to state objectives clearly, to pursue them methodically and to argue clearly and critically;
a critical appreciation and understanding of the relationship of the candidates own work to that of others;
an ability to contribute to the knowledge of the component.
You will learn how to produce a research document and present your findings in a professional manner.
Overview of Learning Activities
Each candidate, for the Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours) in Statistics degree is required to write a thesis on an approved topic under the supervision of a staff member.

You will access cutting edge research and technological developments and intelligently compile relevant literature from sources such as the library and the internet.

The assessment of the subject will be based on a written report , a seminar given to staff of the Department and an assignment .
