Course Description

In this course you will integrate visual design principles with those of time and motion to develop digital media. You will incorporate motion and interaction into compositions, while considering the properties of form and behaviour in visual design. You will also explore how these design elements are used to visualise and conceptualise motion design storyboards. Your practice will include developing and refining concepts to meet briefs, which require creative responses appropriate for a range of audiences.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

Upon the successful completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Investigate and discuss how visual design principles have been extended into motion and interaction design.
  • Create visual elements that move and interact in compositions.
  • Conceptualise and create motion design storyboards for diverse purposes and audiences.
  • Develop projects that integrate motion and interaction design concepts.
  • Analyse and evaluate your own work and that of your peers.


You will be assessed on your development of the following program learning outcomes in this course:

  • Apply theoretical knowledge, conceptual skills and production techniques to the development of digital media solutions for communications problems.
  • Demonstrate creativity, critical thinking and innovation when identifying and solving problems in diverse contexts within the discipline.

Assessment will cover both theoretical and practical aspects of your learning. You will be able to develop your work in relation to your own specific areas of interest in your professional practice.
