Course Description
This course introduces the student to the process of financial management. It aims to facilitate an understanding of selected financial systems operating in health and community care facilities. Opportunity is provided for students to explore the dynamic nature of the funding mechanisms and financial strategies within the Australian health care system.

• Discuss the nature of the interface between nursing,, management and accounting practices in the health care setting.
• Identify and apply financial models for budget and reporting within the health care setting.
• Demonstrate the monetary sources that finance the health sector.
• Recognise the requirement of financial accountability in the nursing leadership role
• Review budgetary models and financial reporting methods relevant for the health care environment.
• Evaluate the concepts which underlie financial measurement and reporting in the health care sector;
• Discuss various approaches to meeting the monetary requirements of health care services;
