Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities
This is a final stage course in the Master of Engineering (Quality Management). It is assumed that you will have completed all three of the Foundations courses (manu1425; manu1358; manu1474) and the two second stage courses (manu1437; manu1365;) and have either completed or are completing the remaining two final stage courses (manu1443; manu1366).
Course Description
The students carry out a substantial investigation of an industry problem. They are required to use a systematic and analytical approach that follows a structured research method. Note that this subject is the second stage of the project, following Quality Project I (MANU 1366)
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
After completing this subject students will have carried out a major project in an area of quality. They will have demonstrated the ability to carry out, and report, on their independent research.
Overview of Learning Activities
Essentially self paced with occasional contact sessions with an academic supervisor. Students are expected to complete various research project activities.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment is primarily by examination of the thesis and the oral presentation. A proportion of the marks are allocated to satisfactory progress throughout the subject.
