Course Description
<font face="Times" size="2">Students participate in cross cultural experiences through a study tour to Melbourne to broaden the students understanding of Communication Design as a global field of practice. This experience is through the attendance of a design conference and participation in classes with students and lectures at RMIT in Melbourne.</font>
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
<font face="Times" size="2">To provide students with the opportunity of experiencing a cultural exchange to have greater exposure to other cultures in the world of Communication Design. Through participation in classes with students and lecturers at RMIT in Melbourne and through attendance of AGIdeas which is the largest student design conference in the Southern Hemisphere.</font>
<font face="Times" size="2">Assess cultural difference in the context of a Communication Design brief and implement the most effective communication outcome accordingly.

Overview of Learning Activities
Breifs are handed out in class outline learning activities during the intensive visits and in the Professional Studio Practice classes.
Students also travel to Melbourne for two weeks to particpate in intensive workshops and the AGIDES conference.

Overview of Assessment
<font face="Times" size="2">Students can apply for an extension to a briefs deadline IN ADVANCE OF the deadline OR up to 48hr after the due date if illness or a situation beyond your control prevents you attending class to submit the work. Students who wish to apply can obtain an extension/special consideration form from the office. Students will be required to submit medical certificates or other evidence to gain the extension from the lecturer involved. At the time the extension is granted a new date and time will be agreed to between the lecturer and student. Work granted extension must be submitted to Iris Koh SIM Program Co-ordinator.
If a student requires special consideration regarding submission of folio this must be applied for in advance of the deadline OR up to 48hrs after the due date if illness or a situation beyond your control prevents you attending to submit a folio to your year level co-ordinator. Students will be required to submit medical certificates or other evidence to gain the extension from the student progress committee. At the time the special consideration is granted a new date and time will be agreed to between the Program Manager Bronwyn Clarke and Iris Koh SIM Program Co-ordinator and the student. It will be the responsibility of the student to submit the folio at the agreed time
and date.</font>
