Course Description
This Course introduces models of leadership and provides support for participants to diagnose their own learning needs in this area and develop an action learning activity to improve their leadership skills.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
This course is intended to increase a student’s leadership capabilities.
To understand more about the behaviours of effective leaders;
To increase insight into one’s own leadership behaviours;
To increase insight into one’s own organisational environment.
Overview of Learning Activities
In different semesters this course is offered in different modes:
1. This course is offered on-line. All discussions and activities are undertaken on-line; there is no on-campus attendance requirement;
2. It is offered as a series of workshops, including lectures, discussions and activities;
3. It is offered as a series of weekly lectures and discussions, together with an experiential workshop.
Overview of Learning Resources
Participants are expected to read widely. A range of learning resources will be used during the course. A text book is normally recommended as an introduction to the key ideas and issues in the field of leadership in education. The publication details of the text book will be published in Part B of the course guides. In addition, students are exptected to independently access learning resources.
Overview of Assessment
The Assessment load in this course is approximately 6,500 words. The purpose of assessment is to provid participants with teh opportunity to demonstrate that they have learned from their participation in the course.
Students must successfully complete (that is pass) each assessmetn task in order to successfully pass the course.
Assessment is typicaly divided into two categories - formative and summative.
