You will be required to have appropriate knowledge and skills in the relevant discipline to engage in the development of a concept. Academic advice will be provided. It is expected that you will have a first degree and will have existing expertise in your intended artistic discipline.


Course Description

This course focuses on the generation and formulation of ideas and encourages you to consider a variety of ways to develop a concept and communicate it effectively to an audience. You will conceptualise an idea for your creative project(s) and develop your concept. This course will expand on your existing writing, drafting, pre-production and/or production management skills.  


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

At the completion of this course you should be able to:
 

  • Develop skills as a conceptual thinker and originator of content suitable for your creative project(s).
  • Develop ideas from conception to realisation in reference to the relevant medium
  • Demonstrate your knowledge of the possibilities of narrative storytelling forms
  • Situate the development of your idea within a relevant social and cultural context
  • Examine and apply technical conventions relevant to the medium
  • Further your skills to communicate ideas in ways appropriate to the medium
  • Present your ideas and developed concept to your peers for the purpose of seeking feedback and refinement
  • Demonstrate the nexus between theory and practice in the development and refinement of your concept
