Course Description


This course focuses on the processes artists employ to develop their ideas
from concepts through various developmental stages to finished art works.
It offers theoretical and practical knowledge of these developmental
processes by facilitating students’ engagement with a range of creative
working processes in relation to sculptural form. Experimental approaches to
object making, materials, development and construction will be explored
and students will have the opportunity to further develop individual spatial
and technical abilities. A wide range of spatial practices will be
considered including object-based work, installation, performance and
conceptually driven practices.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

On conclusion of this course students will have:
. Developed a deeper understanding of the implications of working processes on their own creative production.
. Developed an understanding of developmental working processes employed by artists.
. Critically evaluated existing individual creative processes.
. Experimented with a range of developmental working processes in relation to sculptural form and practice.
. Established progressive resolution and refinement of ideas, concepts, materiality and technical skills through innovative and sustained investigations.
. Consolidated effective communication, research and presentation skills to develop and present ideas and projects both collaboratively and independently.
.Realised and presented an articulate body of work addressing the learning activities identified in course material.
. Explored material, form, working processes, concepts, observations and technical skills through innovative thinking and experimentation.
.Identified different conceptual issues within notions of personal identity and developed these ideas into artworks.
