Course Description

In this course you will explore alternative forms of video production - applying an imaginative approach to cinema. You will experiment with both production and post-production methodologies.

You will be challenged with new ideas arising from the theories of contemporary and historical experimental video making and video installation.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe experimental methods of video creation.
  • Identify and analyse visual and conceptual influences within experimental video works.
  • Develop and implement narrative and abstract forms of video making.
  • Apply video making techniques across a variety of production platforms.

This is an elective, which will complement the learning outcomes you are developing in your program.

You will be engaged in learning that involves a range of activities both face-to-face and online such as workshops, tutorials, group and class discussion, class activities and individual research.
