You will use computer skills you have gained over the first three years of the Bachelor of Design (Multimedia Systems) program.

Course Description

Multimedia project allows students to practice the media skills they have acquired by performing a project.

Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

Specifically, you be able to:

1. communicate effectively in oral and written forms for a variety of purposes and in a range of contexts, relevant to their professional activities

2. establish and effectively use/manage interpersonal networks and manage relationships in a range of settings

3. independently acquire knowledge of new technologies, methods of work and ideas, and to suitably apply them to meet the needs of clients

4. adapt to change flexibly and responsibly

5. work across a variety of information technology platforms and environments

6. generate and use creative ideas and processes to solve problems

7. critically analyze and evaluate all aspects of their work, including technology, tools and methods and solutions

You will develop advanced capability in all the skills you have learned during the program by performing a project activity, including:


  • Apply knowledge from all disciplines to ’real’ situations in an integrated way
  • Design usable multimedia and communication products to meet the needs of a design brief

Overview of Learning Activities

Learning activities will be generated by applying design and other multimedia skills to a multimedia based project. You arrange with the coordinator a regular meeting schedule for project development.

Overview of Learning Resources

Students are encouraged to do a wide range of reading and independent library research into all areas of Art, design, and Multimedia.

Students are recommended that they have personal access to current (educational) versions of software used in the course. Also recommended is that students have some variety of portable data storage media, for example, a USB memory stick/drive or an Apple iPod that can store data and be usable on both Macintosh and Windows PC platforms. Multimedia in general and this course in particular, involves student’s use and transportation of large file sizes.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment will be by means of Project proposal, mid semester presentation, final presentation and final report.
