Course Description

In this course you will undertake structured work experience in the field of Property or Valuation.  You will be given access to the school’s Employer of Choice program, which will assist you in finding a position for your work experience.  You will be supervised by a qualified Property/Valuation practitioner and will undertake work that is relevant to your field of study.  Your professional practice experience will consolidate and build on your learning within the discipline of Property or valuation and provides the opportunity for you to develop your professional practice expertise in an industry that is of particular interest to you.

This course comprises a minimum of 20 days work experience.  If you undertake supervised work experience in Valuation your work experience may contribute to the work experience requirements of the API for CPV registration. This course can be completed in conjunction with OMGT2119. 

This course requires you to articulate your own professional and personal development goals with clear evidence of progress and feedback from self, academic and workplace supervisors.

You will develop your knowledge of professional behaviours and standards, commensurate with those put in place by the professional bodies and your employer.  In doing so, you will be able to distinguish between ethical and unethical professional practice, and develop your knowledge of the role of ethics in the Property and Valuation profession.

Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to:

  1. Apply professional practice and work experience knowledge to address an industry problem. 
  2. Integrate and apply theoretical knowledge to address professional practice problems or issues.
  3. Critically reflect on current and emerging professional practice issues in the property or valuation industry.


Overview of Learning Activities

You will participate in and contribute to interactive workshops designed to support you to share and reflect on your prrofessional practice experiences.   You will engage with your lecturer and industry representatives and participate in discussions relating to best practice in the property and valuation profession.

Overview of Assessment

You will be assessed on how well you meet the course’s learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes. Assessment consists of:

Task 1: Individual assignment: Reflective Journal. 50% weighting. CLO1, CLO2, CLO3.

Task 2: Individual assignment: Case Study and ethics. 50% weighting. CLO1,CLO2, CLO3. 

Feedback will be given on all assessment tasks.
