Course Description

This Course builds on the skills achieved in Electronic Media and The Web 201 in the development and management of virtual images in the form of web sites and other digital media. It culminates with the application of previously learned skills to the development of web page design.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

On completion of this course it is expected that you will have further development the following capabilities:

A high degree of visual literacy in electronic based imagery
An increased understanding of the basics of creating a web site.
Able to manage and administer a web site once it has been deployed.
Understand the issues related to publishing a site on the WWW
Understand cultural, social and visual contexts as they relate to virtual images on the WWW
Be familiar with virtual imaging software for panoramic display of images.
Utilize and be familiar with software for the production of image presentations in digital form.



Overview of Learning Activities

Weekly workshops provide an arena for the acquisition of creative and technical skills and the practical application of relevant software and imaging techniques under lecturer supervision.

Overview of Assessment

Activities are to be completed you both during class time and in additional “non-contact” time.
Each activity will be marked according to the skill level demonstrated and its completion in the allocated time.
Detailed instructions for each of the assessment tasks will cover criteria for assessment. A full range of grades from Fail to High Distinction will be used. The assessment criteria will include:
- the ability to provide creative responses to the problem solving exercises
- the originality and innovation of the concept
- the design and production values of the project
- participation in the subject
- completing the assessment tasks on time
Students are expected to present their projects personally during assessment times.
No late work will be accepted for assessment without a medical certificate.
