Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities
An approved undergaduate degree is a prerequisite for any honours courses.
Course Description
The student selects a research project from a list published annually within the Applied Chemistry discipline. The projects involve an investigation into chemically related problems. The project will be supervised by an academic research staff member. The projects may involve collaboration with external bodies such as industries or government agencies.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
The aims of this course are to develop competency in executing a research project from the planning stages to communicating the results to fellow researchers. Skills to be developed include proper planning, consultation with supervsiors at all stages of the project, laboratory skills and proficiency in using instrumentation, planning and presentation of a thesis and oral skills in communicationg results in a seminar.

The main activities in this course are the carrying out of the research and presentation of the results in a thesis.

Assessment will be based on the thesis, literature review, project plan and research skills displayed during the year.
