Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities
This course is based on a reflection of work throughout the MC240 Master of Sustainable Practice program and hence should be completed as the student approaches the end of the program.
Course Description
In the Exegesis Course, students are expected to perform a critical analysis of their journey in the MC240 Master of Sustainable Practice program. The materials developed throughout the program are used as the basis for this critical analysis. Students draw from their project work, their experiences in the Sustainability Body of Practice (ENVI1183 & ENVI1184) and Sustainability Project (ENVI 1186 – 1189) courses, their learning from option courses and their learning contract to develop this written report
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
This course contributes to the following Program Learning Outcomes for MC240 Master of Sustainable Practice program:
S4 - Communication and technical research skills to justify and interpret theoretical propositions, methodologies, conclusions and professional decisions to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
S5 - Technical and communication skills to design, evaluate, implement, analyse and theorise about developments that contribute to professional practice or scholarship.
A2 - With high level personal autonomy and accountability.
A3 - To plan and execute a substantial research-based project, capstone experience and/or piece of scholarship.
Upon successful completion of this course, you should be able to:
- Provide a summary of learning achieved over the extensive period of the program;
- Explore personal motivations in journal and leaning contract;
- Reflect on a complex journey of problem-based learning;
- Articulate the results of participation in the program, including the learning and the project results;
- Nominate areas requiring further work and identify strategies to realise your ideas and aspirations.
Overview of Learning Activities
The learning activities for this course are based on independent research and analysis.
The course assessment reflects the aim to encourage reflection in topics of sustainability and the bulk of the assessment is directed towards the production of the final exegesis.

Students will be able to access course information and learning materials through Canvas and will be provided with copies of additional materials as examples by the supervisor. Lists of reference texts, resources in the library and freely accessible Internet sites will be provided.
