Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities

To be eligible to enrol in this course:
• You must have completed at least 96 credit points (= 2 full-time semesters) of your postgraduate program.
• You must have passed or be currently enrolled in EEET1142 Project Preparation, Planning and Problem Solving.
• You must have a GPA of at least 3.0 for the semester immediately preceding this course.
• In consultation with your academic supervisor, you are encouraged to choose electives aligned to your project to enhance project outcomes.
If you pass this course in your first attempt, you must undertake EEET2314 Research Project Part 2 in the following semester. You have the secondary option of converting to a full-time research project (EEET2312 – Research Project) only if it is under the same academic supervisor (and with their agreement).

Course Description

A Research Project involves exploring a scientific or engineering question at the frontier of knowledge.
By undertaking a research project, you will develop basic skills in analysis of literature, systematic collection of data, evaluation of data, drawing insight from results, and presenting these results in written and oral forms.
During the course, you will select a project in consultation with an academic supervisor (either of your own choosing, which is preferred, or assigned by the School). You will plan, execute, and report on this project. You will be expected to achieve set milestones within the semester, which can be developed further in EEET2314 Research Project Part 2.
The research project could be standalone or contribute an individually assessable component of a larger research effort. The scope of this project should be defined in consultation with your academic supervisor, but should align to your chosen specialisation.
This course relates to a part-time research project. This is equivalent to the first half of a one-semester full-time project.
