  • ISYS2449 Data Analysis

Course Description

This course provides you with an opportunity to explore a problem in depth, complete a critical review of literature on the topic, identify relevant theories and models for research on the topic and report the outcome in research thesis at a standard suitable for publication in a professional journal.

This version of the course yields 24 credit points. It needs to be added to other versions of this course to yield the necessary number of credit points. This course alone does not produce the necessary credit points to pass the Minor Thesis course.

  • Undertake a critical review of the literature

  • Communicate the findings as an academic thesis/paper
     


Overview of Learning Activities

In this course, you are required to undertake independent self-directed work. The direction of this course will be under the general guidance of a supervisor who has knowledge of the area of study and substantial research experience. You should meet with your supervisor on a regular basis to monitor the progress and direction of study. You are expected to write up the findings in a research thesis under the guidance of your supervisor. The thesis is to be submitted for examination with the approval of the supervisor.
You should aim for a refereed conference paper from the thesis.
 


Overview of Learning Resources

Learning resources are thesis specific. Please consult with Program Director Bachelor of Business (Honours) and your thesis supervisor. You should read books on research methods and academic papers in the  Research area.

Overview of Assessment

The assessment for this course is on the basis of satisfactory completion of a research thesis.
There is no assessment in ISYS2448 Minor Thesis Part A, as the full thesis will be submitted in ISYS2454 Minor Thesis Part B.
