Course Description
This course introduces you to the theories, concepts and practice of merchandise planning and the allocating of fashion and textile merchandise to appropriate retail outlets. Through investigating and analysing retail data, you will design and develop future retail strategies for fashion stores and enterprises that would contribute to positive financial planning.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:
1.Apply and creatively adapt a body of theoretical and technical knowledge and skills in sourcing requirements to meet cultural and social needs of the target market
5.Analyse and interpret data to communicate effectively in roles of buyers, allocators and planners.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
1. Use financial principles of buying and selling to demonstrate an understanding of retail sales and stock data 2. Analyse and assess financial data to forecast future business performance 3. Apply and justify decision making strategies to support successful financial outcomesOverview of Learning Activities
You will be engaged in learning through class room tutorials that will involve presentations, classroom discussions, group activities and individual tasks.

Overview of Assessment
You will be assessed on how well you meet the course learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes.
Assessment may include oral presentations, quizzes, assignments, project reports and examination. Feedback will be provided throughout the semester in class and/or in online forums through individual and group feedback on practical exercises and by individual consultation.
