Course Description

This course builds on your learning in Construction Technology 1, and focuses on the composition and use of concrete and composite material design within high-rise construction. In this course you will develop your knowledge and understanding of basic design principles which apply to the use of concrete and composite materials and develop your understanding of key construction techniques that apply to high-rise construction, including basement construction techniques. You will also explore how to utilise construction technologies and materials applicable to the construction of a high rise building.

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs)

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to: 

CLO1: Analyse and apply construction technologies used in commercial construction, both local and global 

CLO2: Select and justify the use of construction technologies appropriate to diverse construction sites 

CLO3: Evaluate different technologies used in high rise construction 

CLO4: Determine and justify the optimal construction technologies for use in the different stages of construction

Your learning in this course will be developed through a variety of classroom activities that will include face to face lectures, workshops, and a site visit to a highrise construction project. Delivery may be face to face, online or a mix of both.
