Course Description
In this course you will explore and develop a range of documentation and digital representation skills.
To develop your knowledge of the technical aspects of documentation, you will use hand drafting, image manipulation and digital presentation.
You will be introduced to 2D computer aided design and gain familiarity in interpreting, producing and utilizing current Australian Standards for architectural documentation.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
In this course you will develop the following program outcomes:
- Communicate your ideas and designs through a broad range of technology and presentation techniques to a range of stakeholders including clients and relevant industry practitioners
Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to:
- Use the correct equipment, tools and appropriate software to visually communicate design concepts.
- Produce small project documentation and interior detailing.
- Produce digital interior ideas and perspectives for use in all stages of the design process
- Explore and develop hand skills as a communication tool.
Overview of Learning Activities
Learning activities will include supervised project work, independent investigation, site visits, demonstrations, audio visual presentations, online learning, studio work and guest presenter demonstrations.
Overview of Learning Resources
RMIT will provide you with resources and tools for learning in this course through our online systems.
Learning resources will include audio-visual presentations, library references, architectural and interior design websites, interface & activity via myRMIT learning and support material, including relevant Australian Standards.
Overview of Assessment
You will be assessed on how well you meet the course learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes.
Assessment may include a range of activities such as in-class exercises, portfolio, digital models, presentations and individual / group projects.
Feedback will be given on all assessment tasks.
Assessment tasks in this course are either formative or summative. Formative tasks provide the basis for ongoing feedback and can be considered essential building blocks for the more substantial summative assessment tasks. Summative assessment tasks in this course are graded.
Assessment Task 1 Workshop - Portfolio (30%)
This task relates to the following course learning outcomes:
- Use the correct equipment, tools and appropriate software to visually communicate design concepts.
- Explore and develop hand skills as a communication tool.
Assessment Task 1 Digital - Concept development and presentation (25%)
This task relates to the following course learning outcomes:
- Use the correct equipment, tools and appropriate software to visually communicate design concepts.
- Produce digital interior ideas and perspectives for use in all stages of the design process
Assessment Task 2 Workshop - Orthographic Drawings (20%)
This task relates to the following course learning outcomes:
- Produce small project documentation and interior detailing.
- Explore and develop hand skills as a communication tool.
Assessment Task 2 Digital - Concept Presentation (25%)
This task relates to the following course learning outcomes:
- Use the correct equipment, tools and appropriate software to visually communicate design concepts.
- Produce digital interior ideas and perspectives for use in all stages of the design process
