Basic experience in game development or design is an assumed capability of this course, as you will be required to develop game design objects (levels, characters, environments) in software-agnostic classes.

Course Description
This elective course introduces practical and theoretical concepts across a broad range of contemporary and emerging interactive platforms, with a specific focus on the experience design of video games. It will provide a range of introductory but self-directed skills and concepts around the design of user experience in interactive entertainment and art, including the use of appropriate software to create interactivity.
Emphasis will be placed on the development of practical and analytical skills in relation to independent video-game design and the role and use of interactive media and games from an experience design perspective.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Critically analyse game design trends and changes in the independent videogame development community.
- Describe and analyse the design conventions and relevancy of your own designs.
- Design and execute an interactive experience design commensurate with contemporary cultural and technical expectations.
- Examine independent videogames and discuss their cultural relevancy.
This is an elective, which will complement the capabilities you are developing in your program.
