Course Description
This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to confidently use a range of computer- based information and communication technologies so that you may participate effectively in a variety of personal and business activities.
Software programs include word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software and integration.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Use computer software to communicate researched information
2. Identify, select and use word processing/spreadsheet functions appropriately to maximise task efficiency in a variety of contexts
3. Identify and explain social issues relating to computing technologies and their impact on society
4. Add simple website technology to solve a business need

Your learning will occur through a variety of experiences which may include face to face teaching, demonstrations, online tutorials, in class discussions, group work, individual problem solving exercises, class portfolios and presentations.

Overview of Assessment
You will be assessed on how well you meet the course’s learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes. Assessment will include a two-part Research Project, a Word Report, a business letter and an Excel assignment.
Task 1:Word – Business Letter and Report using MS Word advanced functions; worth 30% (LO1, LO2)
Task 2: Research Project - Apply presentation software to showcase your researched topic; worth 20% (LO1, LO3)
Task 3: Excel Assignment demonstrating functions applied to research; worth 30% (LO1, LO2)
Task 4: Portfolio of Integrated tasks; worth 20% (LO1, LO2, LO4)
