The key objective of this course is to continue your consideration of the use of digital technology in the formation of your creative aesthetic and the expression of this in your work as a creative practitioner by incorporating digital technology in your final creative output.
In Digital Design 2 you will also consider the potential for new applications of digital technology in future fashion, the implications of these new applications and their application to your creative practice.
This course includes a work integrated learning experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/ or community is integral to your experience.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
- Problem solve effectively in a fashion and textiles enterprise within the area of industry relevant fashion design, technology and product development.
- Demonstrate analytical decision making techniques in a fashion environment.
- Conceptualise, integrate and organise information in order to resolve complex issues related to fashion design and technology.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to
- Apply and articulate your how digital design and technology might be incorporated in your creative practice.
- Design, develop and time-manage the specifications for your project.
- Plan and execute a project that will include the use digital technology in your final creative output.
Overview of Learning Activities
You will develop your knowledge of digital design and make comment about how the use of new technologies might impact future fashion practice.
You will continue to use software programs to inform their digital communication and making strategies, and will further examine how digital design can be enabled through the use of various software programs including Photoshop, Illustrator and Rhino.
The software program Marvellous Designer/CLO 3D will be explored for consideration for a final creative output.
Classes will be conducted through a blended learning environment with online lecturers, activities and tutorials along with computer lab workshops and will include at various times a guest lecture.
You will undertake a work integrated learning experience that includes the use of digital technology in professional practice.

Overview of Assessment
Overview of Assessment:
You will be assessed on how well you meet the course’s learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes.
Assessment may include:
Task 1: (20%) Modelling fashion with experimentation, ideation and prototyping
Task 2: (30%) Using 3D for design conception, iteration and experimentation.
Task 3 : (50%) Prototyping fashion related objects incorporating 3D designed elements. Creating a digital collection in presentation format.
Feedback will be given on all assessment tasks.
