Course Description

This course/modules covers some of the skills required to be an effective language learner. This module covers the skills required to understand an answering machine message, to write a short telephone message and to leave a message.

Performance Criteria:

3.1 Leave a short telephone message containing at least 2 itmes of information, eg I can't come today. My son is sick.

Some errors may occur but these must not interfere with the intended meaning.

3.2 Initiate exchange or rewpond to opening appropriately

3.3 Use appropriate fomulaic expressions, eg Hello, this is ..., I'd like to leave a message for..., Thnaks very much.

3.4 Use one clase questions/statements, eg Cna i speak to ...?, I can't come to class today.

3.5 Use appropriate vocabulary

3.6 Pronounce key words with suffiecient sound clarity and stress as to be intelligible to the interlocutor

Overview of Assessment

This course is part of a full-time integrated program.
