Overview of Assessment
Assessment is ongoing throughout the course and will include the following:
- research project
- Practical demonstration of a set of tasks
- Oral questioning
- Self assessment
Assessment Tasks
Task 1 will require you to collect and identify at least 2 vocational options you are interested in.You will need to find information to answer specific questions about your vocational selections such as employment conditions and requirements and relate this information to your own skills and qualities. Information specific to the taster /activity theme will also be collected and practical aspects of participation will be identified as part of Assessment Task 1. This assessment task will assess against elements 1&2
Tasks 2&3 Require you to demonstrate a specified set of tasks within the vocational area which demonstrate appropriate interpersonal and workplace communication skills, correct use of tools and equipment and understanding of necessary OH&S procedures. Oral questioning will confirm competancy, demonstrating understanding of the principles or reasoning behind the action taken. It will be performed under close supervision and assessed using a detailed checklist. This task asssess against Element 3
Your final assessment task is a Self assessment. This will enable you to review the outcomes of the participations and identify any follow up actions required. The questions will be presented orally or written according to student needs. This task assesses against Element 4
3rd party asessments will be collected where appropriate. This means that if you are on a work placement where you can undertake tasks that are relevant to a vocational taster, an assessment can be made by a workplace supervisor that can contribute towards your assessment. For example if you are doing a Work placement at Coles supermarket and you are using retail equipment like a pricing gun for markdowns and giving customer service your supervisor can give feedback about your competency based on his/her observations and guided by a checklist.
