Course Description

In this course you will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to prepare an individual vocational plan.  The individual vocational plan will enable you to identify vocational goals and identify and access course information and support services in RMIT and the wider community to assist in achieving these vocational goals. The individual vocational plan will provide you with a plan for exiting the course and pursuing your vocational goals.

Learning Outcomes


On successful completion of this course you will have developed and applied the skills and knowledge required to demonstrate competency in the above elements.

These skills will include communication skills, the ability to contribute to discussions relevant to your own vocational goals, problem-solving skills, and the development of your personal vocational action plan.

 


 


Details of Learning Activities

This course is a compulsory core unit and has a substantial focus in the program. It will provide skills to help you develop your own individual vocational plan to maximize vocational preparation throughout the program and to plan for exit. You will get to know program information and support services both in the community and within RMIT to help you achieve your goals.
Although the focus is on gaining meaningful work you will also explore options other than work such as volunteer work and involvement in community activities.
The course also aims at supporting you to work out whether the program is a good fit for you and whether there are arrangements you will need to make to in order for it to work for you.

You will be provided with a comprehensive workshop schedule at your first class in February that will highlight the different days of the week and the classes that are scheduled for this course.
