In this course you will develop the understanding, knowledge and skills to undertake volunteer work.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit you will have developed the following skills and knowledge:

An understanding of how personal values and attitudes may impact on work as a volunteer

The need for relevant background checks to be undertaken by the organisation

The need for undertaking relevant/mandatory training

Organisation expectations of volunteers

Personal motivations for volunteering

An understanding of the volunteering sector including the nature of volunteer work and the importance of volunteer work to the community

An understanding of the organisation information including various roles, rights and responsiblities and organisation processes policies and procedures

An understanding of relevant legislative and procedural requirements, including requirements relating to mandatory notification where relevant

Communication and literacy skills to work well as part of a team in a volunteer role 

The ability to adhere to policies and procedures

Information technology skills appropriate to specific tasks

Organisation skills to manage one’s own time
