Course Description

This module covers the strategies required to be an effective language learner. it includes negotiating and preparing a learning plan, contributing to the formal learning environment and demonstrating the capacity to work independently.

Performance Criteria:

1.1 identify and prioritise long-term and short-term goals

1.2 Identify current and potential barriers to learning, eg. family commitments, physical or emotional constraints, cultural difference in learning processes

1.3 Identify strategies to overcome barriers and to achieve goals, eg additional training effective time management, understanding vocational culture

1.4 Identify gaps between current skills and future goals

1.5 Discuss and document learning/training plan which takes into account goals, barriers and strategies to support learning

Overview of Assessment

This course is part of a full-time integrated program. Learner performance is assessed against specific criteria that describe a standard of performance. the criteria allows the learner to participate actively in the assessment process. The learner is given as many opportunities as practicable to achieve each outcome.
Learner is clearly informed that assessment is taking place and feedback on performance is given for each assessment.
