Overview of Assessment
Students must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of competency to be deemed competent.
Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievements of each element of competency in a flexible manner. Assessments will incorporate a variety of methods such as class exercises, practical projects, demonstration of techniques in a workplace or the Virtual Enterprise and tests. Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met.
In addition to the assessments, formative feedback is provided to the students throughout the duration of the course.
Learning activities will include class-based discussions, exercises, reading and reflection and situated learning in the Virtual Enterprise in order to develop competency including underpinning skills and knowledge.
Assessment Tasks
Portfolio – 50%
Students will complete a portfolio of four (4) case studies worth 12.5% each. The Portfolio Guide is available on the DLS for this course under Assessments.
Virtual Enterprise Assessment - 50% due in week nominated by the student and teacher
The critical aspects for assessment and evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit is achieved by using the Virtual Enterprise as a simulated business that learners organise and run as a hands-on way of learning about business practices and procedures, and most importantly, achieving competency with other general administration courses in this program.
