Course Description
In this course you will learn the skills and knowledge required to follow organisational infection prevention and control procedures, including implementing standard and transmission-based precautions and responding to infection risks.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge and understanding of course content is assessed through participation in class exercises, oral presentations, and through the application of learned skills and insights to your written tasks. Assessment Tasks
Students enrolled in Vocational Education and Training qualifications are assessed for Competency. To be assessed as Competent means you have consistently demonstrated the required knowledge and skills at a standard expected in the workplace.
To be assessed as Competent in this course, you will need to complete each assessment task to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task.
You should refer to the assessment brief which is available through Canvas for full assessment criteria and due date.
AT1 Knowledge Assessment
This is an open book assessment scheduled to be submitted (Day 2/ Phase 2) via Canvas. The primary purpose of this assessment task will allow student to demonstrate knowledge relevant to the Infection Control which cannot be demonstrated within a clinical environment. Feedback will be provided via Grade Centre on Canvas and discussed verbally if required.
AT2 Simulated Lab - Practical Assessment 2
This is a simulated practical assessment is conducted in Phase 2 at RMIT Level 3 . This practical workplace assessment has been designed to provide students with an opportunity to demonstrate their ability to complete and follow relevant infection prevention and control procedures within the Simulated Clinic at RMIT. The assessment will mainly be focused on infection prevention and control in the dental surgery, with a focus on PPE, Hand Hygiene, setting up and setting down dental surgery. Feedback will be provided at the end of the practical assessment.
AT3 - Workplace Assessment
This is a simulated practical assessment is conducted post Phase 3.This practical workplace assessment will allow students to demonstrate their ability to complete and follow relevant infection control prevention tasks within the clinical environment at their workplace. Feedback will be provided at the end of the practical assessment.

Assessment is ongoing throughout the course and will include three practical assessments, one knowledge assessment, two logbooks and one project portfolio presented to a panel of industry experts.
