Overview of Assessment

Students must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of a particular competency to be deemed competent. Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievements of each competency in a flexible manner. Assessments will incorporate a variety of methods: class exercises, homework, practical project and tests. Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met.

Learning activities will include class-based discussions, exercises, small group work, online activities, reading and reflection on various activities, together with independent and group research, including in the Practice Firm, in order to develop competency including the underpinning skills and knowledge.

In addition to the assessments, formative feedback is provided to the students throughout the duration of the course.

Assessment Tasks

PART TIME

Travel Project – Due Week 17 (70%)

In a small group of THREE, students will create a travel project based on the assignment criteria given in class and available on the Learning Hub.  The travel project consists of preparing travel documentation for a business trip.  This is evidence of the students’ classroom learning and practical application of their skills.  Refer to the Learning Hub for the marking criteria sheet and details of the project requirements.

Group Presentation based on Travel Project – Due Week 16 (30%)

Based on the travel project scenario, students will make their small group presentation using the marking criteria guide.  The presentation will include both the theory introduced in the classroom and evidence of research of the travel project.  PowerPoint will not be used, however Internet webpages may be referred to.  Each student will present a section of work ensuring the whole project is addressed in the presentation.
