Course Description

The purpose of this course is to provide you with an introduction to basic audiovisual manual handling skills and to explore the process of managing an inventory and the requirements of coordinating technical operations

Overview of Learning Activities


Details of Learning Activities

Combination of classroom activities, field exercises and theory tutorials.

When learners are required to prepare documents such as CV’s or to follow up Practical Placement arrangements they will be allocated class time to carry out these tasks in the library or  from home. During first semester in class activities will be approx. 10 hours and out of class work at least 20 hours. Some additional study time should be allowed over and above these estimates.

International students must attend all scheduled classes and Focus Group classes.

Overview of Assessment

Industry placement of 35 hours which includes:
Completed Log sheet 20%
Completed employer report 20%
Written journal/report of 800 words 60%
(International students will complete practical placement assessment activities in projects run with RMIT staff.)


Assessment Tasks

1 Learner completes a log sheet as they undertake practical placement
2 Learner arranges for the Host Employer to complete a report on their performance during the practical placment.
3 Learner must complete a journal of their practical placement and address questions in relation to the elements and performance criteria. Details will be provided in the first class.

Due date for submission of these items is 7 November 2007.

Other Information

IMPORTANT:
To ensure Workcover compliance, the signed Practical Placement Agreement Form must be returned to the teacher before you commence your placement.
If you commence your placement without prior completion of this form and you are injured whilst at placement, you will NOT be covered by Workcover insurance and you may be personally liable for EXPENSIVE AND ONGOING medical and/or legal expenses.
This could amount to many thousands of dollars of ongoing expense.
