Course Description

This course covers the skills and knowledge required to apply a range of specific photo-imaging techniques to the use of a 35 mm SLR camera (analogue or digital)

Overview of Assessment

Assessment will incorporate a range of methods to assess performance and the applications of photographic skills.


Assessment Tasks

To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete the following pieces of assessment to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback on all assessment.

1. Camera Skills Assignment (10%) Due week 4
2. Design and Composition (15%) Due week 9
3. Studio and Outdoor Lighting/ Still life Photography (15%) Due week 13
4. Portrait & People Assignment (20%) Due week 16
5. Folio (including Personal Project) (20%) Due week 16
6. Photography Notebook (10%) Due week 16
7. Test (10%) Due week 16

Grades used in this unit are as follows:

80 – 100% HD High Distinction
70 – 79% DI Distinction
60 – 69% CR Credit
50 – 59% PA Pass
Under 50% NN Fail
