Course Description

This unit covers the competency to work safely in the financial services industry and follow sound occupational health practices at work.
It examines the legal framework; the requirements for policies and procedures, the obligations of the employer and employee, the roles of DWGs and OHS representatives.

The course also includes practical elements such as manual handling, computer safety, and risk assessment.

Learning Outcomes


Overview of Assessment

To achieve competency in this course students must complete a number of assessment tasks.
1. A Hazard report that requires you to prepare a report identifying risk hazards in a workplace.
2. A Incident report that requires you to report a workplace incident using an appropriate reporting form and complying with health and safety procedures.
3. A Work Office case-study identifying hazards in a office environment.

Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met. Students will be provided with feedback throughout the course to check their progress.
