Course Description

This course describes the skills and knowledge you require to take responsibility for your safety in the workplace. The focus is on using equipment safely and you become familiar with using a range of equipment in a variety of different conditions.

Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge of course content is assessed through participation in practical exercises.


Assessment Tasks

This course is ungraded.
To demonstrate competency in this course, you need to complete each one of the following pieces of assessment to a satisfactory standard.

All assessments take the form of practical demonstrations showing the responsible and safe use of the following equipment:
1. Lighting stands & supports
2. Tripods
3. Booms
4. Softboxes
5. Exposure Meter
6. Tungsten
7. Monobloc Flash
8. Cambo 5x4
9. Lighting Ratios

Students must pass each of the above practical tests before they can go onto the next assignment .

Grades used in this unit are as follows:
