Overview of Assessment

Assessment may incorporate a variety of methods including technical requirements documentation, homework, assignments, group and/or individual projects, in class exercises, written and practical assessments, problem solving exercises, presentations, direct observation of actual and simulated work practice, presentation of a portfolio of evidence which may comprise documents, and/or photographs and/or video and audio files, review of products produced through work-based or course activities.

Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met. Students will be provided with feedback throughout the course to check their progress.

Assessment Tasks

Portfolio of Evidence

Evidence for your portfolio will be created and produced on a regular basis (weekly).  (Please refer to the Teaching Schedule above.) Your portfolio pieces will be brought to the following week’s class for submission to your facilitator.

Workplace Research Assignment

You are required to carry out a small research project in order to ascertain the environmentally sustainable work practices of that organisation and make recommendations on improvements to such work practices.  (Please refer to the Assignment Sheet on the RMIT Learning Hub/Blackboard.)

Please note:

Assessment for this unit is not graded.  You will be assessed as either Competency Achieved or Not Yet Competent (CA/NYC).

  • The Workplace Research Assignment should be submitted to the Assignment Box on Level 13 with a completed/signed assignment cover securely stapled to the front of it
  • Do not use plastic folders or sleeves - as we need to follow sustainable work practices within the program
  • Due to the complex nature of this unit, you may be asked to demonstrate competency more than once
  • You must demonstrate competence in each of the elements of this unit in order to achieve a CA (Competency Achieved)
